Hawaii Mortgage Broker Requirements

Mortgage brokers in Hawaii are governed by the Professional and Vocational Licensing Division of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

An in-state physical place of business is required for mortgage brokers seeking a Hawaii mortgage license. An applicant must have two (2) years of experience in financial transactions involving primary or subordinate mortgage financing, or equivalent experience as determined by the commissioner. A surety bond in the amount of $15,000 is also required. Hawaii does not require mortgage brokers to pass an exam or to have any education.
